Over £1m in revenue was generated by independent music retailers participating in the #loverecordstores event in the UK on Saturday (June 20), according to figures released by campaign organizers today.
The event was a day of online shopping for vinyl exclusives at record stores with a range of limited-edition releases being made available to music fans.
The aim of the event was to provide participating stores with a revenue boost in the absence of Record Store Day, which has been postponed until later this year.
Alongside the retail activity, the event was supported by online, ‘instore’ performances by a number of artists and DJs sets broadcast throughout the day.
A huge success for the physical format music market who have faced unprecedented challenge and change in recent years. May their success long continue!
