There can be few other instruments less easy to transport around than a harp. Other than using the case like a sledge and getting down hills quickly, the idea of taking your harp on the tube to your next gig makes our arms ache just thinking about it. Clearly not for classical musician turned pastoral singer songwriter Jessica Victoria, whose harp permeates her forthcoming single, “Some Songs are for Crying”.
Her vocal range gives away her operatic training but her songwriting has an equally timeless quality, with an almost Middle Ages feel of both antiquity and manners. It’s not necessarily a song for crying to but whatever way the tune takes you, by all means, sob away!
Of course, we could recommend a finer drink than ye olde mead to go with Jessica Victoria – not ideal for your dental health but a perfect marriage of old and new!
