Following the inclusion of Natalie Spark as Brite Spires’ new frontwoman and lead singer, the electro group have released their new single ‘Youth Movement Disco (2020 Version)’, a shining example of their indie pop alchemy, which we are absolutely loving at the moment.
And we’re not the only ones who love Brite Spires. BBC 6Music’s Cerys Matthews called their previous single a “vibrant track!” with both Nightshift magazine and Oxfordshire Music Scene also heavily praising the group. Nightshift Magazine refer to their vocals as “Ladytron-like vocals alongside a Moroder pulse and some discreetly histrionic guitars” with Oxford Music Scene highlighting the singer’s “sugary, disco drawl (which) drapes over shimmering synth keys and pop beats”.
On this fresh new electro-disco track, Nat has teamed up with Italian-German bassist Fischer Luigi, drummer Cal Brumhead and guitarist Drew Atkins. And with a multitude of experience between them including Atkins working alongside Radiohead and Supergrass as well as backing up DJ extraordinaire Carl Cox at a rave in front of thousands of people and opening Cornbury Festival’s main stage alongside Sophie Ellis-Bextor, it’s no surprise that this new single is an absolute winner!
Brite Spires is an electro-disco utopian dream, bringing together elements of classic synth bands of the 80s and 90s with the shimmering cool of the likes of St. Vincent and Christine and the Queens. Their new track is the sound of the summer and we can’t wait to see what this quartet of talent have in store for us next.
