It’s been a decade since the band’s last studio album, Above the Noise, was released in 2010, with the four-piece being on a musical hiatus since 2016.

But now, Tom Fletcher, Danny Jones, Dougie Poynter and Harry Judd are back with new music.

Taking to social media on Monday morning, McFly not only confirmed the name of their comeback track, they also shared its release date with fans, writing: “There’s no going back now… ‘Happiness’ will be the first single from our brand new album ‘Young Dumb Thrills’.

“Listen to Happiness and pre-order the album from Thursday the 30th July!”

At the start of the month, the band announced they had signed their first record deal since 2009 and that they would be dropping a new LP shortly.

It comes after the 2019 release of The Lost Songs, comprising of demos that were initially intended for their sixth studio album.

During the surprise announcement last year, the band spoke about how the tracks had been shelved due to their collaboration with James Bourne and Matt Willis of Busted, as they formed Noughties supergroup, McBusted.

At the time, McFly also confirmed a comeback tour which was set to take place this year. However, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the dates were rescheduled.

That said, their gig at the SSE Wembley Arena on October 29 is slated to go ahead.
