Jasper’s Riddle describes himself as an acoustic rock storyteller, which should give you a pretty good idea of what to expect from the album! Each of the tracks of the album is a self-contain story with a strong folk influence. His latest single, The River, explores themes such as the existence of God and man’s connect (or disconnect) with nature.
The upcoming album also contains aspects from a diverse range of genres: from neo soul to prog rock to flamenco. Jasper’s Riddle is versatile and contortive, like a musical shape-shifter you never know what is going to come next, and when you hear it, it is never what you expected.
He is also a classical composer and multi-instrumentalist, listing Schubert as his biggest influence: taking inspiration from the way in which the composer incorporates aspects of stories and poetry into the instrumental technique itself. This is something that Jasper’s Riddle tries to feature in his own writing, for example in The River, there are several moments where the guitar finger-picking imitates the sound of waves and rushing water.
We can’t wait for album, but for now, be sure to check out his single: The River!
