His latest composition may be entitled ‘Solace’ but it is in fact an all embracing combination of sounds that together formulate a classical extravaganza that shows true style, flair and real talent. Solace is a musical journey following the rapid devastation caused by a single virus that has crippled the world with over 3 billion in lock-down and the affected gasping for breath. The first part depicts the dark and sombre warning of impending doom. The middle section, the tragedy of sickness, despair, helplessness, ravage, death and solitary burial. The finale is the floating glimmer of hope countered by distress, uncertainty, sadness and lament. The faint hope of recovery can so easily be shattered.

Add to this that Khetty is also very much a man on a mission aiming to keep classical music alive during these horrendous times and we should be giving him as much support as we can and spreading his message to all the four corners of the earth. As Mustafa explains –

“Solace for Humanity is an experiment to invite instrumentalists and vocalists to re-record parts as well as play individual parts with improvisations from their home studios. Ideas would be incorporated into a longer overture. It’s about exchange, collaboration, co-creation and sharing. Lockdown isn’t lockout, our lives are in our heads, we live in thought. Creativity, idea generation, imagination is the hallmark of our being. The coronavirus has made us truly digital natives cruising in uncharted terrain, realigning our work and engagements”.

Mustafa Khetty is most certainly a composer and innovator using his varied background of music and business to draw upon a series of ways to not just enhance the impact of his work but it really feels he also wishes to make things better for us all but especially classical musicians. Mustafa is reaching out to classical musicians wherever they are located in isolation, giving them the separated audio tracks along with the written music for each instrument and asking them to record their part for the track, before he then puts them all together in production, forming the sound of a full orchestra. Mustafa is now also requesting that classical musicians who are out of work contact him if they would like to get involved with the project:

We therefore feel it is our duty to highlight this cause and say, email him now…yes right now! at submit@mustafakhetty.com
