Growing from the depths of El Salvador, Steady Rollin’ have already surfed the radio waves of America and Europe, ensuring their sound has been spread far and wide from their home. Channelling an influence of Cream, The Who and The Rolling Stones in their post blues-rock sound, Steady Rollin’ offer both nostalgia to the older generation and the excitement of the genre to a younger audience.
Comprised of Fernando Poma (guitar and lead vocals), Benjamin Andrade (drums and backing vocals) and Gerardo Pardo (bass), Steady Rollin’ have already created a large following in their home of South America and are now looking to spread their musical messages further afield and all around the world.
‘You’re Mystical’ is taken off the band’s 10-track debut album, Love & Loss, in which Poma recalls different romantic tales from his life. When discussing the lyrics in detail, Poma reveals the story of an insecure husband in need of validation from his wife.
“It’s a love song about a long-married couple where the husband feels a bit insecure about his wife’s love for him. He takes her to a solitary cottage in the woods. He looks at her and feels so much love that just the depth of that love makes him so scared of losing her. At one point he asks her to take a walk with him under the stars – he wants to see if the “stars are still shining” for HIM regarding her love for him. They get back into the house and he looks at her in the kitchen and can’t do anything but ‘sigh’. He loves her so much that he is afraid. He finds her truly mystical and otherworldly.”
The DJ and Producer, behind ‘You’re Mystical’s remix, Elyse Rich, explains her interpretation of the song was different to that of Poma’s intentions. Discussing why she was attracted to remixing the track, Rich states that the theme of self-love made the project desirable.
“ ‘You’re Mystical’ is a song about self-love and self-acceptance. It’s an inspirational love song from yourself to yourself. It expresses the depth of ways we can relate to ourselves and how to bridge the gap between who we have become and the longing to reconnect with who we know ourselves to be. The relationship you have with yourself is just like every other relationship in your life so why not feed it the same tender nurturing loving care? Remembering who you are despite of how the world may look around you is essential. We are all sensitive, vulnerable beings in a holographic universe where anything is possible.”
Set for release 16th October, Elyse Rich’s remix of ‘You’re Mystical’ certainly embodies the pumped-up energy of self-love. Completely changing the integrity of the song by auto-tuning and pitch-shifting the vocals, playing with the structure and drowning out the original instrumentation with synths and dubstep-beats, there isn’t too much of the original song shining through. This, however, will allow Steady Rollin’ to indeed get their name spread further afield and into the playlists of many more fans.
