If there’s one good thing to come out of the worldwide lockdown it’s the number of artists blessing us with some quarantine tunes. Countless artists have used these strange times to write, record and release some new music into the world. Here at Help Yourself, we’ve put together a list of the very best lockdown releases you need to hear.
First up Mahalia with her ‘Isolation Tapes’, a 3 track project guaranteed to put a smile on your face. ‘BRB’ is the perfect track for a rainy lockdown day, ‘Plastic Plants’ a song for the slow afternoons and ‘Too Nice’ a bouncy number to motivate you on a Monday.
Coronavirus couldn’t stop Kehlani from releasing new album ‘It Was Good Until It Wasn’t’. The project features Jhene Aiko, Tory Lanez, Masego and more, setting up ‘It Was Good Until It Wasn’t’ to be one of the best R&B albums of 2020.
The soulful and sultry IAMDDB released lockdown inspired track ‘Quarantine’ produced by Adrian. IAMDDB’s vocals are relaxed, smooth and otherworldly, sitting on an easy feeling trap beat. A lockdown must-listen.
Rina Sawayama’s track ‘XS’ rounds up our lockdown list. The pop anthem is a Help Yourself favourite off of her 2020 album ‘SAWAYAMA’, a project that solidifies her place as a pioneer of new wave Pop music. Despite circumstance we predict 2020 to be a very exciting year for Rina.
