A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one…

Some Velvet Morning have debuted the video for their 2021 single Ghosts. The band have announced that this is the first in a series of 3 video drops from the album, releasing weekly, to celebrate the new Vinyl launch of their album Rough Seas.

Like the track itself, the video for Ghosts is stripped back and boasts a confidently withheld style. Some Velvet Morning let the track itself take centre stage, opting to perform in a stylishly reserved environment. Warm lights wrap around the black-clad group as they conjure an immense swell, all from their simple environment.

Ghosts itself demonstrates the reasons why Some Velvet Morning have garnered the genre-crossing fan base they have. There’s an element of a country music spirit to Ghosts that mix with the group’s signature modern pop-rock sound. Perhaps the song’s most powerful trait though is (for lack of a better word) its hype!

The single maintains a delicate balance of confidently withheld soundscapes, with a rousing through line throughout built by whoops, hand claps, and guitar. There’s shades of The Chain but contextualized in a modern pop style.

It’s strange to think of it as a newer release as it feels like a classic already. My gut instinct is that you could play this down the pub and everyone would join in. It’s easy to see how Ghosts could become the next big sports anthem and its video provides the perfect opportunity to revisit it.

Hey readers of Brit hits I hope you’re enjoying the sunshine and I’m about to make your day ten times better with some great new music from Teddy Serkin as he has just released his stellar new single ‘Trying to Live’ and trust me when I say this one’s a guaranteed hit. 

‘Trying to Live’ It’s a heartfelt single but this doesn’t take away from Teddy’s rockstar attitude and incredible delivery of the song. You can really feel the passion that lies behind every line that he is singing, using his talent to add feeling and rawness at the perfect moments.   

This is the kind of single that you can’t help but imagine how well it would go down in a live setting. I can hear Teddy’s vocals that he would put on one brilliant show. What makes this song a stand out single is a delivery oozing with swagger before an incredibly catchy chorus adds an added  development to a song that may have passed as simple rock filler without it.  

Teddy’s vocal delivery, which has morphed into that of a crooner in a sleazy New York dive bar, accompanies you through whatever crazy picture the song plants into your brain.

’Do I’ is unlike any sound of the indie pop genre and I know that you’ll agree with me, readers of Brit Hits. With indie, pop and electric undertones, a melodic guitar finish and emotionally resonating lyrics that speak of heartbreak there is certainly something for everyone in FLYNT’s music. 

The unique way FLYNT mixes sounds and words is highlighted in ‘Do I’ The rhyming scheme and vocal emphasis on the last word of each line create the rhythm of the melody. Sonically they are building a circular beat to the song using words that quickly become addictive and catchy. I’ve had it stuck in my head all day!

As much as ‘Do I’ is easy listening with incredibly addictive sounds the underlying theme to this single is heartbreak. – ​​”We basically are obsessed with heartbreak. We love wondering why and how things end up in such a bad way. We get a kick out of writing songs that sound energetic and happy… but really, really aren’t.”

FLYNT have definitely delivered us with a masterpiece of an array of sounds and genres that they have moulded together harmoniously. Although they are only starting out, ‘Do I’ has set a high standard for all their future work, and their futuristic indie chill tracks promise to strike a chord with listeners.

Singer, songwriter Michael Tinholme, has recently released his new single ‘I Don’t Want to Cry for You Anymore’ and listeners could not be more excited. The veteran musician brings various influences and styles to create this surreal, malleable sound.

Michael uses his lyrics and a unique style to create music to impress and please so many; with a foundational genre of rock, he adds various layers of sound from the jazz genre as well as more prog rock to produce a distinctive, immersive sound of which he incorporates the lyricism of the piece effortlessly.

‘I Don’t Want to Cry for You Anymore’ kicks off with an incredibly moving, melodic guitar riff, elongating the last note in order to invent an atmosphere of peacefulness. An acoustic piano allows the listeners to be transformed further into a world of fixation and vulnerability – it is unexpected and presents listeners with the perfect gateway to the harmonic noise of the rest of the song.

This new single exceeds even the highest expectations in its clever lyricism and use of instrumentals. All there is to do now and sit back and play the exceptional track on repeat and eagerly await more music from this amazing artist.

Rapper Noble1BOF has recently revealed his new mixtape Benefits of Freedom with the lead single ‘No Games’ being released on the 22nd of  April. 

Noble studied his craft of music when he started writing bars behind bars and credits the likes of Drake, Giggs and Styles P and his biggest influences even stating that listening to Styles P A Gangster & A Gentleman was how he first learnt how to form and shape a track.

Benefits of Freedom tells Nobles1’s story from his days behind bars and the long way he’s come and the success he’s achieved so far that turned his life around. Nobel has become an ambassador for the Irene Taylor Trust as well as putting his full passion into his writing. 

Discussing his upcoming release, Noble explained: “These bars are my life, you know? It’s a mystery, and yes, sometimes there’s swagger and sometimes it’s cold. I hate driving past these corners, every day, where one of the man  ‘dem  got shot. I’ve got close  friends doing life sentences, fifteen years of my life has been spent inside a prison, most of that in a cell. These Tracks are literally my Life Story.”

The project will be released via Red Tangent Records

Taken from the critically praised album ‘Mernã’ (2019), Nivid is back with ‘Mazhab’. This conceptual wonder embraces the dark gothic tones of the alternative 90s in an introspective tale of religion, identity and community. The single is raw, unfiltered, and an authentic reflection of attitudes towards intertwining cultures and how organisations divide to conquer.

Dropping June 11th, not only is ‘Mazhab’ getting a re-release as a single, but it is also gaining a computer-generated music video that brings the static-filled energy of the track to life. The video is chaotic, filled with red, black and white flashes of colour that perfectly compliment the audio and tone; it feels like an industrial dream to watch and matches the heavy noise rock essence.

“The track is the last track from our already released album Mernã. We are releasing a music video for it and the track as a single. The video has been created by Mayank Dhasmana a Visual Artist from Pune, India and the artwork has been developed by Sammael Mosé who resides in San Diego, California. The narrative of the track is based on the age-old premise of how religion has divided humanity. The track is pretty much on point throughout and condemns organised religion out-and-out.” – Aditya Virmani

Nivid or Aditya Virmani, a New Delhi-based composer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist, is thriving as a completely singularly staffed project. When performing live, Virmani has a specifically curated band to help bring his artistic vision to life, who are as follows: Devasheesh Sharma (guitars), Sudeep Saxena (drums) and Nihar Apte (bass), who allow the bold, fuzz riddled sound to feel fully realised.

Lyrically piercing, ‘Mazhab’ aids the telling of the story featured throughout ‘Mernã’ of a character, Agent 2344. They come to terms with their actions that have been driven by religious zealots (a person who is fanatical and uncompromising in pursuit of their religious, political, or other ideals) and fears for the consequences. The story meshes well with the electronic industrial instrumental that harkens back to the likes of Nine Inch Nails whilst modernising its production and overall sound.

Nivid has created a robust response to a very human issue through intelligent music that spreads an accessible message through impassioned lyrics and distorted backing. ‘Mazhab’ is an incredible take on organised religion that incorporates a fearless sound to compliment the confident call out of religious idolatry; listeners should be prepared for this audio and visual experience to drop on June 11th.
