We’ve got a great new band for you who will transform you back to the 60s which is exactly what we need right now given the current state of the world in 2020. The Purple Shoes, made up of singer Marie Dance, singer and guitarist Michael Bickers, double-bassist Richard Dadson and Stomp legend Theseus Gerard on drums and household percussion, are here with their brand-new album ‘Small Town Fairy Tales’ out on 18th June.
Channeling the sounds of classic acts such as Simon & Garfunkel and Fleetwood Mac, The Purple Shoes combine a timeless mix of deftly-crafted melodies, jaw-dropping harmonies and story-telling lyrics in this new album.

Having met by pure chance after three years in Thailand writing a collection of half-completed songs, lead singer Marie Dance has found her voice with Michael Bickers and The Purple Shoes. Sitting back and listening to their tunes, we feel transported back to the sixties with true and honest songs that live and breathe in the moment.
The Purple Shoes’ new album ‘Small Town Fairy Tales’ contains 12 new tracks written over the past two years and, as the title suggests, tells the story of life and love in a recognisable locale of characters we all see in our own lives. Relatable, uplifting and perfect escapism from our current locked-down lives, Small Town Fairy Tales is an invitation to have fun, unwind and remember why you fell in love with music in the first place.
Whilst we wait for the full album to be released, have a listen to the single ‘Small Town Fairy Tale’ above and set a reminder for the 18th June for the full album to transport you away this summer.
