Since leaving his former band ‘Indigo Violet’, Widnes-based Liam Hillyer has kicked off his solo career with unmatched local support. With traction quickly picking up on streaming platforms, and the demand for his gigs ever increasing over lockdown, Liam released his debut EP “Two Meters”.
Following the unprecedented success of the DIY EP, the Widnes artist now looks on to releasing a further set of singles. The first to be announced, ‘Marquee’ is set to be released on August 7th.
‘Marquee’ is a typical indie ear-worm, just like many of the releases that we have seen from Liam in the past. Bold Britpop vibes solidly shine through with ambient guitars and pacifying vocals.
It’s always been one of my favourites… I’ve never managed to get it perfect until now.
– Liam Hillyer on his upcoming release, ‘Marquee’
We interviewed Liam on his works throughout lockdown:
“Marquee was a song that I wrote a few years ago but I never really did anything with it. During lockdown I took the song and made it to what it is today.”
Liam also talked us through the process of the production of this track:
“It was recorded in my house and the drums were sent in pre recorded from my drummer and then it was also sent off to a mastering engineer. It’s always been one of my favourites out of my own songs but I’ve never really managed to get it perfect until now.”
As mentioned, you won’t be able to hear ‘Marquee’ until August 7th, but you can listen to his previous release ‘This Town’ HERE:
