Fan of Nick Drake or Passenger? You need to know about this latest release on the horizon from Louisiana’s own, Reece Sullivan! Preparing to release ‘Gethsemane’ his latest album on February 23rd, Sullivan has selected a number of singles to show fans what’s to come, with ‘All the While I Was Away’, coming February 10th, and ‘Don’t Fail Me Now’, coming February 17th. With music to look forward to throughout the month, get to know all about Reece Sullivan!

The first single from the album, ‘All the While I Was Away’, it showcases the first signs of Sullivan’s talent, introducing us to a simple acoustic guitar which is quickly followed by Sullivan’s vocals. Instantly hitting all the right notes, both the music and vocals dovetail together beautifully to create an emotional feel to a song that tells a story. A genuinely brilliant opener, it gives any listener everything you need to know about what Reece Sullivan is all about, giving you all the more reason to stick around for his second single, and ‘Gethsemane’.

Hitting play on the second single, ‘Don’t Fail Me Now’, which drops on February 17th, we wanted to hear more from Reece Sullivan, and how he intends to deliver on his talent on a consistent basis. After the first track, where he showed a fantastic ability to convey all sorts of emotion in his lyrics and sound, we hoped we’d see more of it – and we did. With refreshingly brilliant vocals and the same acoustic guitar sound, this time backed up by a string instrument, perhaps a cello or a violin, Sullivan really cements his position as a fantastic artist, who doesn’t need complex music or an off the wall approach to stand out. His ability is enough, with some of the simplest approaches to music that is far, far from plain, it keeps you waiting on each note and word for every second of the track.

Both singles demonstrate Sullivan’s ability in the best way possible. Allowing him to rely on his own ability rather than an expansive production value or over the top additions. These heartfelt, unique and brilliant lyrics paint a picture, and his vocal style delivers it in a way that respects the storytelling. A real example of what music should be about, both singles knock it out of the park in terms of expectations, raising the bar incredibly high for the rest of ‘Gethsemane’. With a release date of February 23rd, make sure you make a note of this in your calendar, and don’t miss out!
