KA-POW! From Hurricane to Thunder with The Footlight District’s ‘The Lightning UK Tour’

From Hurricane to Lightning! Hit US Garage Rockers Take The UK!

It’s the Von Trapp meets Cage the Elephant with garage-rocking family The Footlight District!

Hailing from Chicago (Chi-City!), the band are touring the UK with their hotly anticipated ‘The Lightning UK Tour‘.

The 10-show tour will see them rock through England, Wales, Scotland, and Ireland between Sep 16th – Oct 7th.

The Lightning UK Tour is proof that Lightning CAN strike twice in the same place! The tour comes hot off the heels of their latest single of the same name ‘Lightning’!

A must-listen to for fans of bluesy-garage rock (we’re talking The Kills, we’re talking Cage the Elephant, we’re talking Wolfmother), the single exemplifies everything that has adorned fans in mosh pits the world over.

Lightning marks the band’s collaboration with the incredible Russell Marsden of Band of Skulls, whose synergistic artistry adds some wicked experience to the already killer track.

Sonically, the track crushes everything that makes the genre so infectious. Rousing build-ups of impassioned vocals and restrained instrumentals burst into explosive choruses that blossom with the murkiest of dirty guitars and drums that are somehow the track’s backing chorus??

I don’t know what to tell you. Lightning is a track that needs to be heard to be believed. All I know is I can’t get the damn thing out of my mind.

The single exudes a raw spirit – it’s a swelling anthem, a wall of attitude, a well deserved victory lap for the group that have overcome harrowing circumstance with an impossible positivity.

You’d never know it by speaking to them but the siblings had lost everything. Quite literally reduced to rubble, the family had to contend with rebuilding their lives in the wake of an unrelenting hurricane. Now homeless, The Footlight District had only each other to lift themselves up. Thankfully, that was exactly what they needed.

With this in mind, Lightning makes a lot of sense. It’s the musical equivalent of spraying a bottle of champagne after winning a race (if you swap the champagne with a lot of whisky, and a race with… well, no I guess the race bit holds up).

Show your love and get your face melted by showing up to one The Lightning UK Tour Dates. Check them out below!

In his own words, AK’s art is “a capture of a phenomenon, brought to life with hues that speak to you.” Bold, larger-than-life acrylics are the canvas for AK’s playful yet thought-provoking pieces. His range of contemporary themes stems from a fusion of classic pop art and his appreciation for artists such as Damien Hirst, Warhol, Kusama & Banksy, to name a few.
