On the lookout for some new rock music? Look no further than JShell! Hailing from New York, JShell is a multi-instrumentalist who is here with his latest album, ‘In My Head’. The single from the album, ‘You Do You’, gives us a glimpse of what to expect from the artist, as he gears up to release his 15-track album, which promises a video alongside every track. With great music and a great video, the single ‘You Do You’ is one to add to your playlist as soon as possible!

The first release of many, ‘You Do You’ serves as a great introduction to the project. Kicking us off with drums and a piano, it sets the mood for the track brilliantly as JShell comes in with a vocal performance that suits the track perfectly. Without a drop-off in quality, the music changes pace and energy that JShell’s vocals match throughout. A brilliant track, it dovetails with the video well, with a simple, hand-drawn style that gives each lyric a visual that only adds to the quality of the song overall.

The first release on the album, it’s been drip-fed to us from January 17th up until February 14th, giving each track its own time to shine. With each track hitting the mark, the addition of music videos for each song ensures that the quality is only added to, and makes the album immersive from the very start. Out now, ‘In My Head’ is ready for you to hear and watch each and every second – don’t miss this!

If you’re a fan of prog-rock, then you need to know all about Tom Adamson Band! Coming in hot with his latest album, ‘Old View of the New World’, which was released in December of 2022, it’s got tonnes of quality alongside inspiration from Adamson’s homeland of Scotland. A musician who has been practicing his craft for decades, mixed with the sound of prog-rock that is reminiscent of legends such as Deep Purple, you can be sure that this album is one that you cannot afford to miss.

Kicking off ‘Old View of the New World’ is the brilliant ‘Ballyhoo’, a minute and a half mood setter that is already showing a deep prog-rock similarity, delivering a Gilmour-like solo that has your attention straight away. The follow-up track, ‘See the Light’, is the first time we’re introduced to the vocals of Tom Adamson, and he does not disappoint. Suiting the feel of the music and able to build momentum, it’s another brilliant track that demonstrates everything you need to hear in a great prog-rock album, with yet more fantastic solos stealing the show. The following track, ‘Old View of the New World, solidifies the album as a real gem. Jazz influences shine for the first time with a saxophone, playing alongside the fantastic guitar riffs and drums that we’ve become accustomed to.

Moving through the album, tracks such as ‘The Black Dinner’, ‘Just Another Way to Make a Friend’, ‘Waiting for Life to Begin’ and ‘I Am Mean’ showcase everything that we loved about what we’d already heard. Impeccable vocals, fantastic prog-rock music with a unique and refreshing jazz feel that helps the music stand out each and every time. Released in the back end of December last year, this is an album that you cannot afford to miss. An overall brilliant project from a brilliant artist, ‘Old View of the New World’ is waiting for you to dive right into!

On the lookout for some barnstorming rock music that will have you turning the volume up to the max? Look no further than Same Old Tale, an Israeli outfit with an undeniably good sound and a clear command of music and lyrics that will knock you off your feet. Here with their latest single, ‘Look Down’, as the band prepare for the release of their EP, ‘Tales Are Yet to Come’, listeners will get a glimpse of what’s in store from Same Old Tale! Don’t miss out on this.

Written by the lead vocalist, Maor Shem Tov, while he was on active combat duty visiting the Hermon Mountain. The idea came as he watched the people below, thinking about how they’re heading to work, seeing loved ones and living their lives, it dawned on him what he could not afford to lose. Penning lyrics and music that were born from this epiphany, the result is a truly fantastic track for its lyrics and the resonance that it has on anyone who listens and thinks deeply.

‘Look Down’ is a single that shows us what’s to come on ‘Tales Are Yet to Come’, with not only a clear approach in the music, but also in the lyrics, as they come together perfectly to create a track that will have you wanting to be a rockstar with its solos and ass-kicking drums. Shem Tov manages to balance with the music like a pro, as he matches the intensity of the music and elevate it to a whole other level with his vocals and delivery.

A genuinely fantastic rock track, it’ll appeal to a wide spectrum of those who are inspired by rock music, from metal to alt-rock, this is the song for you. ‘Look Down’ is the perfect teaser for what’s to come, promising that there will be more music on the way that follows in the footsteps in terms of quality. Make sure you get to know all about Same Old Tale and their releases, or live to regret it!

Are you looking for some brand new totally rocking music to add to your playlist? Then look no further than Last Chance! With hard-hitting lyrics and hard-rocking music, they’re sure to excite anyone who gives them a listen. Here with their self-titled debut album, they bring a punk-inspired sound that is backed up with years and years of crafted ability, putting everything they have into a 10-track album that gets the blood pumping. Music of the highest quality and lyrics to match, this is an album that you cannot afford to miss!

The album boots the doors off in style with the opening track, ‘Light the Fire’. A track with high energy, showcasing only the best bouncy, punchy riffs that along with the hard-hitting drums from Cannata get the track off a great start. Not long after, we’re introduced to Frankie Rage, the lead singer who masterfully delivers a vocal and lyrical performance that is as striking as it is good. By no means a slow introduction, it already promises to be an album that you’ll want to hear again.

After the first track started off the album so well, the second track ‘Sick of it All’ promised to show the same quality as the initial track, and it did just that. A track with lyrics that tell a story of life through the Covid pandemic, demonstrating a storytelling ability in their lyrics, while also maintaining the same high quality music we were introduced to at the very start. Frankie Rage’s vocals, just as the last time, were spot on for what the song required, just as was the immense guitar solo by Dave Baron. Everything in both tracks come together brilliantly, getting ‘Last Chance’ off to a great start as an album.

Moving through the rest of the album, it’s clear that their sound is as consistent as it is good. Drums that blow the lid off, guitar riffs and solos that are the definition of rocking out, with vocals and lyrics that fit in each track, with a bass to keep it all together. Tracks such as ‘Don’t Wanna Be Your Man’ and ‘Kamikaze’ showcase the same qualities, with each part playing their part brilliantly just as they did at the start. The whole album is a demonstration of not just clear musical talent, but of a lyrical versatility that really does set them apart from the rest. Music that feels like an anger ballad, will seamlessly be followed up by tracks that sing on personal, heartfelt experiences, but with the same hard-rocking feel. Baron on guitars, Cannata on drums, Phillips on bass and Rage on vocals all perform brilliantly, adding to each other as they all show off their own individual talent that is undeniable by the end of ‘Last Chance’.

Overall, ‘Last Chance’ is an album that showcases some of the best examples of songwriting and vocals. The subject of the songs change, showcasing brilliant versatility, while keeping the same rock approach that feels new every single time. It has a sharp edge in its music and lyrics that is present throughout, and is one of the main reasons to keep listening track after track – the solos, the sharpness of lyrics, the drums, all combine to make an album that is worth anyone’s time.

Kicking the album off is ‘Light The Fire’, an opening track that if played live would be sure to get the crowd jumping. It’s the perfect track to kickstart the excitement, with a perfect performance from each member of the band that leaves you wanting more and more from them. A catchy track with a near instant appeal, it sets the tone brilliantly for what the rest of the album promises to bring.

Moving through the album, tracks such as ‘Sick of it All’ show a fantastic ability for songwriting, going from a more upbeat exciting track to a track that expresses feelings experienced in the Covid pandemic, with a whole new atmosphere and delivery that Rage and other members of Last Chance deliver brilliantly. Baron on guitars and Cannata on drums stand out more so than before, as the slamming drums merge so well with the guitars of Baron as Frankie Rage delivers yet another immense vocal performance.

Other tracks such as ‘Gotcha Back’ and ‘Human Eyes’ showcase the versatility of the band. Going from it’s creepy yet brilliant lyrics to a song about falling in love and starting a relationship, it’s two subject matters that could not be more different if they tried, however the talent of Last Chance is that they’re able to use their musical ability to act as chameleons, blending their style into any topic and making it sound just as good as the start.

Throughout the album, Baron on guitars, Cannata on drums and Phillips on bass choose their moment perfectly, with each addition of their input only making each track better. The solos of Baron add a brilliant dynamic that keep the songs feeling fresh and exciting, with the support from Cannata and Phillips allowing the guitars and vocals from Rage to come together without a hitch.

On the whole a brilliant album, it’s a fantastic example of songwriting and vocals. As the topics change, Rage’s vocals do too, while keeping the same edge that we loved at the start. Backed up by an overwhelming amount of musical ability, it stands out as an album that absolutely deserves your attention. A debut album that any musician would be proud of, Last Chance have delivered on a brilliant album that has so many aspects to enjoy, giving any lover of rock music something to smile about.

It’s the Von Trapp meets Cage the Elephant with garage-rocking family The Footlight District!

Hailing from Chicago (Chi-City!), the band are touring the UK with their hotly anticipated ‘The Lightning UK Tour‘.

The 10-show tour will see them rock through England, Wales, Scotland, and Ireland between Sep 16th – Oct 7th.

The Lightning UK Tour is proof that Lightning CAN strike twice in the same place! The tour comes hot off the heels of their latest single of the same name ‘Lightning’!

A must-listen to for fans of bluesy-garage rock (we’re talking The Kills, we’re talking Cage the Elephant, we’re talking Wolfmother), the single exemplifies everything that has adorned fans in mosh pits the world over.

Lightning marks the band’s collaboration with the incredible Russell Marsden of Band of Skulls, whose synergistic artistry adds some wicked experience to the already killer track.

Sonically, the track crushes everything that makes the genre so infectious. Rousing build-ups of impassioned vocals and restrained instrumentals burst into explosive choruses that blossom with the murkiest of dirty guitars and drums that are somehow the track’s backing chorus??

I don’t know what to tell you. Lightning is a track that needs to be heard to be believed. All I know is I can’t get the damn thing out of my mind.

The single exudes a raw spirit – it’s a swelling anthem, a wall of attitude, a well deserved victory lap for the group that have overcome harrowing circumstance with an impossible positivity.

You’d never know it by speaking to them but the siblings had lost everything. Quite literally reduced to rubble, the family had to contend with rebuilding their lives in the wake of an unrelenting hurricane. Now homeless, The Footlight District had only each other to lift themselves up. Thankfully, that was exactly what they needed.

With this in mind, Lightning makes a lot of sense. It’s the musical equivalent of spraying a bottle of champagne after winning a race (if you swap the champagne with a lot of whisky, and a race with… well, no I guess the race bit holds up).

Show your love and get your face melted by showing up to one The Lightning UK Tour Dates. Check them out below!

A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one…

Some Velvet Morning have debuted the video for their 2021 single Ghosts. The band have announced that this is the first in a series of 3 video drops from the album, releasing weekly, to celebrate the new Vinyl launch of their album Rough Seas.

Like the track itself, the video for Ghosts is stripped back and boasts a confidently withheld style. Some Velvet Morning let the track itself take centre stage, opting to perform in a stylishly reserved environment. Warm lights wrap around the black-clad group as they conjure an immense swell, all from their simple environment.

Ghosts itself demonstrates the reasons why Some Velvet Morning have garnered the genre-crossing fan base they have. There’s an element of a country music spirit to Ghosts that mix with the group’s signature modern pop-rock sound. Perhaps the song’s most powerful trait though is (for lack of a better word) its hype!

The single maintains a delicate balance of confidently withheld soundscapes, with a rousing through line throughout built by whoops, hand claps, and guitar. There’s shades of The Chain but contextualized in a modern pop style.

It’s strange to think of it as a newer release as it feels like a classic already. My gut instinct is that you could play this down the pub and everyone would join in. It’s easy to see how Ghosts could become the next big sports anthem and its video provides the perfect opportunity to revisit it.

You can check out the Rough Seas Vinyl Launch here: https://tinyurl.com/roughseasvinylbandcamp

It’s the beginning of Autumn also known as ‘Spooky Season’ as there’s no better artist to get us in the mood for all things spooky than the legendary Paul Roland. Hailed as the Psych Pop prince and goth rock guru Paul Roland is gigging again with a NEW YOUNG band of experienced Italian musicians.

Paul’s impressive career has spanned over 40 years, which he has achieved a huge wealth of success with more than 20 diverse albums and having produced a gothic ballet Paul has earned a loyal cult following in the UK, Europe and the US.

Formerly managed by June Bolan, the widow of T. Rex frontman, Marc Bolan, Paul spent the past 40 years spinning tales of Victorian villains, eccentric Edwardian inventors and the supernatural against a backdrop of gothic-psych-baroque pop.

You don’t have to take my word for it as In January 2016 ‘Rolling Stone’ named his 1987 album ‘A Cabinet of Curiosities’ “one of the best albums you’ve never heard” I think that says it all.

So be sure to check out some of Paul Roland’s incredible catalogue of music in the links below.

Music has always been a fantastic reflection of an artist’s lived experience. Early life, the highs and woes, battles with and through love – ‘life’ is always a musician’s most accessible source of paint for their canvas of sound.

In the curious case of Alan Dweck, years of globetrotting – from France to Australia and even Hong Kong – collide in an evocative smorgasbord of progressive, jazz and blues that elevate Dweck’s poignant and exceedingly personal lyricism.

No better can this delicate balance of such powerful emotion and musicianship can be experienced than on the remastered rendition of ‘Before’ – one of the strongest cuts from Dweck’s 2019 debut album ‘Entangled Moments’. Led by its visually striking cover art – as Dweck strives to find the equilibrium between sonic and visual art – ‘Before’ is a looking glass into the well-travelled life of the artist; the lucid motions of electric and bass being only a stage for Dweck’s, almost, autobiographical performance.

It should come as no surprise that ‘Before’ is paired with an equally as mesmerising visualiser to match the track’s own grandeur. It’s a monochrome world of smoke and liquids that is no small feat to ignore as the warbling bass and pained wails of guitar seem to drive this enchanting display; a perfect additional set of stimuli to allow the track to be fully realised.

As ‘Before’ does well to build anticipation for a forthcoming release planned later this year, its own intricacies and pockets of detail are more than a treat to dive between as we await what is to come.

December 2020 saw the release of Chris Andreucci’s EP, “What Don’t Kill You.” The Scottish musician, signed to Century Music Group, recorded the EP with the hope of moving to Nashville. Featuring prominent session musicians and produced by Taylor Swift’s producer, Justin Courtelyou, the EP perfectly showcases Andreucci’s country sound.

“What Don’t Kill You” is a collection of songs themed around love, loss and forgiveness. The mood ranges from upbeat (“The Only Love That Never Broke My Heart,”) to nostalgic (“Thunderstorms and Rain”) and bittersweet (“Tonight I’m Yours”). The deep tones and soul searching lyrics from the Glasgow-based artist reveal a maturity beyond his 22 years. Country fans will love it!

Chris Andreucci is set to take up the gauntlet laid down by fellow scots Lewis Capaldi and Paolo Nutini, and command radio waves on both sides of The Atlantic. The Glasgow-based Chris managed to bag himself a record deal with the Nashville label ‘Century Music Group’ in 2019, with the label’s president expressing huge admiration for Chris’s pristine musical talents.

Despite not yet releasing a full studio album, Chris has already performed at some of Scotland’s most prestigious venues like the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall and King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut, where a little band called Oasis were first discovered. 2020 was set to be the year of Chris Andreucci, with plans for major festival dates, as well as his intention to move out to Nashville to try and conquer the American soundwaves, but COVID-19 intervened.

“2020 has been a crazy year. It was set to be a year full of highs – a performance at C2C Festival at The Hydro in Glasgow alongside my favourite artists such as Luke Combs, an EP launch and then a move out to
Nashville in July. But in reality, like so many other people, the year was filled with lows. All my shows were cancelled or rescheduled due to COVID and as a direct result of this my visa application fell through as I had
no activities lined up”. – Chris Andreucci

All of Chris’ plans for 2020 were thrown on the scrap heap, but he will not be deterred in fulfilling his boundless potential with the release of his new EP ‘What Don’t Kill You’.

What Don’t Kill You boasts an enormous range of instrumentation, with ragingly brisk electric guitars and thundering vocals on the opening track ‘Here Comes The Rain’. Complementing this sound is a more tender acoustic guitar on the track ‘Thunderstorms and Rain’.

Overall, it’s the songs ‘Tonight I’m Yours’ and ‘Freedom’ that are the EP’s procurement. This is where Chris Andreucci showcases his instinctive ability to craft powerful tales of modern day romance. This EP is very mercurial and covers all spheres of the emotional spectrum, from being very uplifting in ‘The Only Love That Never Broke My Heart’, to creating a devastating, sorrowful tale of a break-up in ‘Drinking Song’.

2020 was meant to be the year that Chris Andreucci broke into the mainstream and I believe if it wasn’t for COVID, he would have fulfilled his destiny. Still, I have a feeling that 2021 will be the year that Chris Andreucci joins the dynasty of great Scottish musicians who have conquered the world.
