December 2020 saw the release of Chris Andreucci’s EP, “What Don’t Kill You.” The Scottish musician, signed to Century Music Group, recorded the EP with the hope of moving to Nashville. Featuring prominent session musicians and produced by Taylor Swift’s producer, Justin Courtelyou, the EP perfectly showcases Andreucci’s country sound.

“What Don’t Kill You” is a collection of songs themed around love, loss and forgiveness. The mood ranges from upbeat (“The Only Love That Never Broke My Heart,”) to nostalgic (“Thunderstorms and Rain”) and bittersweet (“Tonight I’m Yours”). The deep tones and soul searching lyrics from the Glasgow-based artist reveal a maturity beyond his 22 years. Country fans will love it!

Drawing her inspiration from the likes of Etta James, Grace Jones and Lauren Hill, her catchy melodies and retro sound have solidified her as one to watch in 2021.

‘Hey Babe’ is out now but will be featured on Jade’s upcoming EP ‘Only You’ that will be released through GlaGlaRecords in April this year.

Ruth Brosnan has composed a track which encompasses the struggles of the pandemic, from restrictions, to the bravery and dedication of front line workers.

It’s an upbeat song, despite the potentially gloomy subject, which spreads a clear message of escapism and hope.

This motivational and passionate dance track is perfect for fans of the 80s decade, though it gives a modern twist with electronic elements throughout.

The music is impossible not to dance to; exactly what the nation needs in this difficult and draining time. With Ruth’s music, the pop style, no-nonsense track will get us back on our feet and keep our chins up!

For more updates follow Ruth’s socials below:

Ruth Brosnan has composed a track which encompasses the struggles of the pandemic, from restrictions, to the bravery and dedication of front line workers.

It’s an upbeat song, despite the potentially gloomy subject, which spreads a clear message of escapism and hope.

This motivational and passionate dance track is perfect for fans of the 80s decade, though it gives a modern twist with electronic elements throughout.

If you haven’t already heard the name Chris Andreucci, it’s definitely one you’ll be getting to know soon. With an appearance at the SSE Hydro Arena in Scotland, a record contract and plans to move to the
revered heart of country music, Nashville (US), Chris had all the steps he needed to become Scotland’s next big country star until we were struck by the pandemic.

Like many who have had to adapt their plans due to Covid-19, his appearance at the ‘Country 2 Country festival’ at the SSE Hydro and his opportunity to move were cruelly snatched away, leaving him wondering how he would still make it in the country world. However, Chris never lets setbacks stop his ambition, and he’s pushed on to release his long-awaited EP ‘What Don’t Kill You’.

Chris has already had a country career that’s enough to make anyone jealous, having performed headline shows at Glasgow’s iconic venue King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut and the Celtic Connections show at Glasgow Royal Concert Hall. His new EP has been 12 months in the making and puts a distinctly fresh twist on classic country.

Kicking off with the bouncy beat of ‘Here Comes The Rain’, Chris’ warm vocals have a distinct twang, transporting you straight to the Wild West on a journey of catchy, authentic country music. Moving throughout the EP, we have the touching, laid back love song ‘Tonight I’m Yours’ , and the instant earworm ‘Drinking Song’ with heart-warming lyrics encouraging you to keep on keeping on, regardless of what life throws your way.

Chris’ thoughtful lyrics continue into the gentle ‘Thunderstorms and Rain’, before the EP picks up again with the upbeat ‘The Only Love That Never Broke My Heart’ where he expresses his love for music. Finally, the EP comes to a close with the classic country sound of ‘Freedom’ which will have you wanting to listen to the EP over and over again.

Speaking of his struggles throughout 2020, Chris explained:

“2020 has been a crazy year. It was set to be a year full of highs – a performance at C2C Festival at The
Hydro in Glasgow alongside my favourite artists such as Luke Combs, an EP launch and then a move out to
Nashville in July. But in reality, like so many other people, the year was filled with lows. All my shows were
cancelled or rescheduled due to COVID and as a direct result of this my visa application fell through as I had
no activities lined up. In addition, the social distancing measures and restrictions in place slowed down the
EP release process. I’ve been fortunate enough to still be able to do something that I love and I’m hopeful
that next year things will slowly get back to normal. I’m looking forward to playing the rescheduled C2C gig
in Glasgow as well as the Texas Scottish Festival, in Decatur next May.”

Chris Andreucci

With big things coming in 2021, Chris is clearly one to watch for lovers of all things country. Make sure to follow him on social media to be the first to hear ‘What Don’t Kill You’ when it is released on December 21st.

Someone well-versed in the struggles of this battle is singer/songwriter, and self-proclaimed ‘dyke in a hat’, Anita Gabrielle. Spending her life striving to amplify her voice within the music industry and beyond, Gabrielle has pushed past the obstacles of being a queer, female artist, even in her older years.

From being outed as a lesbian in a newspaper at the beginning of the 1980s to recently battling a cancer scare, the removal of a kidney and a hip replacement, Anita has shown immense strength which shines through in her music alongside evident passion and a new-found burst of energy.

Her current project is her upcoming EP ‘Just Neat’, inspired by her brother Michael who has Parkinson’s Disease, with the aim of raising both awareness and funds to assist others affected by the condition.

Her efforts have led to her being recognised by Award-winning songwriter Amy Wadge, who has worked with huge stars like Ed Sheeran, and now contributes vocals and pianos on Gabrielle’s upcoming single ‘Best Friends’.

“Obviously, I was absolutely thrilled to be supported by someone with the credentials of an artist like Amy, who not only has worked with Ed Sheeran but many other major artists such as Camila Cabello and Lady Antebellum too”.

Anita gabrielle

Who better to introduce you to the EP than Anita herself in her short video where you’ll hear more about her project and instantly fall in love with her unique and quirky personality.

Bradford-based Anita has been been writing and performing music since the late 1960s when Michael first introduced her to the music of Joni Mitchell, who remains her idol and musical inspiration to this day.

Throughout her career, she’s supported big names like Divine and Labi Siffre and has performed with ZeNaNa and ‘mature girl group’, The Favourite Aunties.

Gradually introducing elements of pop, acoustic rock and folk, Anita has spent years crafting her wonderfully individual sound which she is more than ready to share with the world once again.

The 5 track EP demonstrates Anita’s intricate attention to detail within her songwriting and her stunningly soothing vocals, perfectly accompanied by twinkling, calming acoustic guitar.

From the heart-warming tribute ‘Best Friends’ to the relatable ‘I Want To Go Out Outside Again’, Anita’s words of wisdom will have you gripped throughout and will leave you with the unmistakable feeling of warmth, as if you’ve gotten to know a new friend.
